Raman Spectroscopy for Forensic Identification of Body Fluid Traces: Method Validation for Potential False Negatives Caused by Blood-Affecting Diseases

Two critical issues in forensic science are identifying body fluid traces found at crime scenes and preserving them for DNA analysis. However, the majority of current biochemical tests identification, which applicable scene, presumptive destructive to sample. Raman Spectroscopy provides a suitable alternative methods as nondestructive, confirmatory, potentially field method. Our laboratory has developed chemometric model identification five main fluids using spectroscopy. This was samples obtained from healthy donors. Thus, it is most importance application method validate its performance donors with diseases that might affect composition fluids. In this study, validated peripheral blood acquired Celiac Disease, Sickle Cell Anemia, Type 2 Diabetes. It shown correctly identified all indicating no false positives could occur because were originated suffering diseases.
